Can you help me think of a better name for it?
Prologue
Lightening shot down from the sky causing the cool, black, night to light up the night. Screams from the villagers could be heard from the other side of the mountain. Yokai were attacking the village, a small child had escaped with only a few scratches. She had to run, run away to live, but run where, she had no where to go, her whole village was destroyed. I can’t go back. She thought in her head as she continued running. She tripped over a rock as she was running, tears started to well up in her eyes. “Where am I supposed to go?” She asked herself, a shadow loomed over her and snatched her up. “Looks like one got away.” The strange yokai said with a evil smile. The girl shook with fear. “Go away you demon!” She yelled at him, the yokai was now furious. “I’m not a demon I’m a yokai you little brat!” He growled as he carried her to a small shack, he then threw her in. “Stay in here if you know what’s good for you.”
The girl crawled into a corner and cried. I’m gonna die! She thought in her head but then she shook her head. “No.” She said aloud. “I have to escape.” She noticed a small hole on the other side of the room and started to pick at it making it larger. When she finally got the hole big enough for her to squeeze through she got picked up again. “I hope you weren’t trying to run away.” He said with an evil smirk, the girl quivered. “You know you’re kinda cute, I think I will keep you as a pet.” He continued, “But first we need to find a more suitable place to keep you.” He finished, and with that he carried her off. After hours he finally found a place. “You can stay here, and remember don’t run otherwise.” He put his face really close to her’s. “I’ll have to kill you.” He finished, he then left.
Chapter 1
A week had past since the young girl was taken, but she wouldn’t speak, she wouldn’t even tell her name. The yokai sighed, “When are you going to speak?” He asked the girl, she then sighed. I guess I’ll have to talk eventually. She said in her head. “Don’t call me you, my name is Ayame.” She said, her voice hard. The yokai smiled but not in his usual evil way, in a sweet way. “You finally spoke, well then, I’m Raion.” He replied, his voice causing her to shiver. “Well then Raion , why are you keeping me here?” She asked, keeping herself calm. The yokai put his face close to hers and grabbed her chin, “Because I like you,” He then sighed and backed up. “Hurry and grow up already.” He said before he left.
Ayame punched the ground . “I have to get out of here.” She cried, her tears falling to the ground causing tiny puddles. She tried opening the door but it was sealed shut. She started to bang on it and it finally it opened but not by her, Raion opened it. “You can’t break out so stop banging.” Ayame ran past him and got outside, she ran and ran, but after a minute she was facing the shrine again. “Told you.” Raion said, “I put a harm on this place, you can’t escape.” He continued, Ayame fell to her knees. “Let me go!” She wailed her vision getting blurry from the tears.
Raion picked her up and set her in her bed. “Go to sleep.” He said, when he started to leave he heard her sobbing. “If you don’t go to sleep, you won’t be ready tomorrow.” He said with a smile. “Ready for what?” She asked as she wiped the tears off her face. He then left without saying anything. Let’s hope he actually comes tomorrow. Raion said in his head before he drifted off to sleep. Ayame closed her eyes but sleep didn’t come. Why won’t he just let me go? She asked herself finally, after an hour she fell asleep.
Ayame awoke to a hand prodding her side. “Get up.” Raion said, Ayame groaned, the light from the open door hurting her eyes. “Five more minutes.” She replied as she pulled the blanket over her head. Raion grabbed her and flung her over his shoulder, “No, you’re getting up now.” He said, annoyed, he carried her out to the front where a strange man was waiting. Ayame instantly woke up. “Who are you? And what do you want?” She asked as she struggled to get out of Raion’s grasp. “Stop struggling you little brat!” He then put her down on a small bench. “Now why did you want to see her?” Raion asked.
Ayame stared at her feet, What do they want with me? The stranger smiled, “You are to watch over this girl, she will be very important in the future.” He then left without saying anything else. “What was that about, what does he mean, why are you keeping me here?!” She asked Raion with a sniffle. Raion sighed, “I guess you were going to have to find out eventually.” He said with a bit of annoyance in his voice. “Come on.” He continued, he started walking away. Every bit of her mind was telling Ayame to run while she had a chance but she followed him. When Raion finally stopped they were in front of a large door that smelled like rotting wood.
