Picking out a Gerbil Are you still deciding on what gerbil to pick out? Well, I'm going to make this easier for you on deciding your gerbil friend. Now, first you might want to decide on if your getting a male or female or multiple gerbils, or maybe you want to breed gerbils. For male or female, I find that males are more laid-back and don't chew as much as a female does. A female, on the other hand, is very energetic, and will chew almost anything. Now, if you've decided on the gender, you should now think about getting one or multiples. The best if two gerbils. If you get more, they may break up and form their own Clan, and that could lead to territories. It is a proven fact that gerbils tend to live longer with a buddy at their side. But, if you decide to get one, just make sure to take it out a lot, like for 15 minutes each day to form a strong bond. Have you figured out how many to get? Well, now that you've decided that, I'm going to tell you how to pick out the best! Here are signs you want to look for in a gerbil: Alertness. Curiosity. Their eyes are wide open and bright. Their fur is shiny, and skin is pink. Signs you want to look out for(these signs could signal sickness!): Runny nose. Labored breathing. Eyes are watery. They look rough. Their skin is a red color(they could have mites!) Those are what to look for and to watch out for. I hope this helped in finding a gerbil.
